In many of the same ways that computer-aided drafting (CAD) revolutionized traditional drafting, engineering and design processes, geographic information systems (GIS) have reinvented and improved surveying technology. MWY continues to upgrade hardware, software and training to ensure its equipment is state of the art and that survey teams work with tools that provide precision and easy interface with client systems. To that end, we also utilize AutoCAD Land Development software to ensure our survey field data moves seamlessly into AutoCAD design/drafting workstations.

We operate two workstations equipped with ESRI ArcGIS 9.1, MS Access, Mr. Sid, Tralaine, Trimble Geomatics Office and other software for creating, viewing and analyzing geo-referenced data and imagery.

We have created a number of GIS data layers for municipalities, including digital orthographic imagery and shape files of parcels, zoning and infrastructure. These layers help cities to locate and better understand the impact of proposed land uses, not to mention providing rapid identification of infrastructure issues and the ability to react quickly and appropriately to demands for service.

MWY is well-acquainted with Trimble Global Positioning equipment, having used it widely since 1997 and can deliver data and materials that are readily compatible with our clients' spatial data systems.

Perhaps more important than hardware and software is MWY's team ware. Our surveyors, draftsmen, engineers and architects have worked closely together, some for dozens of years. That means your project develops in an atmosphere of professional cooperation and respect. Time and time again, we see what this means to a successful job.

Typical survey projects have included:
