Carl Yates
, P.E., chairman of the board of directors of McGoodwin, Williams and Yates, Inc., has named Brad B. Hammond, P.E., as president and James C. Ulmer, P.E., as senior vice president, chief operating officer for the firm. Other appointments include Jeffrey L. Richards, P.E., as vice president, director of engineering and M. Lane Crider, P.E., vice president, special projects. Yates will remain as CEO and board chairman
Yates, pictured first from left, received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) from the
University
of
Arkansas
in 1958. He spent eight years with McGoodwin Consulting Engineers as a surveyor, draftsman and administrator and when McGoodwin’s proprietorship incorporated in 1966, Yates was named president of the new firm, McGoodwin, Williams & Yates. Since that time, he has guided the company through four decades of growth into the role of
Arkansas
’ foremost water and wastewater treatment system design / engineering firm. Yates is a life member of both the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Water Works Association and a charter member of the Arkansas Academy of Civil Engineering.
Hammond
, pictured second from left, received his BSCE degree in 1992 and his MBA in 1994, both from the
University
of
Arkansas
. He is a lifelong resident of
Fayetteville
and has been associated with McGoodwin, Williams & Yates since 1992. The Arkansas Society of Professional Engineers named Hammond Young Engineer of the Year in 1998; he has served as president of the Northwest Chapter of ASPE and is currently vice president of the state ASPE Board. He also is a member of the Arkansas Council of Engineering Companies, Arkansas Society of Civil Engineering, American Concrete Institute and the American Water Works Association.
Ulmer, pictured third from left, received his BSCE degree from the University of Arkansas in 1973 and assumed full time responsibilities with McGoodwin, Williams & Yates at that time. He has worked extensively in water system master planning and has conducted 26 water and / or sewer rate studies for client municipalities. Ulmer is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, the American Water Works Association, the Arkansas Society of Professional Engineers, the Arkansas Academy of Civil Engineering and others. He served on the Springdale Planning Commission from 1983 to 1998 and currently serves as a Springepresentative to the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission.
Richards, pictured fourth from left, received his BSCE from the
University
of
Arkansas
in 1978 and has worked with McGoodwin, Williams and Yates for 26 years. He has extensive experience in structural design for wastewater treatment plants, lift stations, sewer lines, water booster stations, transmission, storage and metering facilities. Richards is a member of the Water Environment Federation and the American Water Works Association and is expected to leverage his diverse technical expertise in mentoring young engineers and assuring the continued quality of MWY designs.
Crider, pictured fifth from left, has worked with McGoodwin, Williams and Yates since 1992, when he received his BSCE from the
University
of
Arkansas
. He is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, Arkansas Society of Professional Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers, American Water Works Association, American Consulting Engineers Council, and the Arkansas Water Works and Water Environment Association. Crider was president of the Northside Fayetteville Rotary Club in 2003-2004 and is a past president of its board of directors. He is also active in the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce.
Of the new appointments, Yates said, “Each of these professionals has demonstrated proficiency and willingness to expand their role in the company. In so doing, they will enable the firm to continue to provide superlative design and engineering services to clients throughout the region in the coming decades.”
